Creating Physical Products

Physical products are tangible goods you sell alongside your classes and services. Unlike bundles and memberships, they don't include class credits or recurring billing - they're straightforward retail items.

Quick Start#

  1. Go to Admin > Products > Create Product
  2. Select Physical Products
  3. Set your Product Name and Category
  4. Configure Price
  5. Add Description with product details
  6. Click Create Product

Step-by-Step Setup#

Basic Information#

Product Name: Use clear, searchable names that customers will recognize.

  • Good: "Premium Yoga Mat", "Studio Water Bottle", "Meditation Cushion"
  • Avoid: "item_001", "product_blue", "thing"

Category: Organize your physical products:

  • Equipment: Yoga mats, blocks, straps, bolsters
  • Merchandise: Branded apparel, accessories
  • Other: Books, supplements, gift cards, unique items

Pricing#

Price: Set the retail price for your physical product. This is a one-time payment - no recurring billing.

Currency: Automatically uses your Stripe account's default currency.

Product Details#

Description: Include important details customers need to know:

  • Product features and benefits
  • Size, color, or material information
  • Care instructions if relevant
  • Studio pickup vs. shipping details

Physical Product Considerations#

Inventory Management#

Naayya doesn't include built-in inventory tracking, so consider:

  • Low-volume items: Manage stock manually and adjust availability as needed
  • High-volume items: Use external inventory systems or spreadsheets
  • Made-to-order: Items produced only when ordered (custom apparel, etc.)
  • Digital delivery: Gift cards, online content, or digital products

Fulfillment Options#

Studio Pickup (most common):

  • Customers collect items during class visits
  • No shipping costs or logistics
  • Builds in-person connections
  • Include pickup instructions in product descriptions

Shipping/Delivery:

  • Requires separate shipping cost calculation
  • Consider local delivery areas
  • Factor packaging and handling time
  • May need additional e-commerce integrations

Hybrid Approach:

  • Offer both pickup and shipping options
  • Different products might have different fulfillment methods
  • Clearly communicate options in descriptions

Pricing Strategy#

Equipment Pricing:

  • Research similar products online
  • Factor in your costs plus reasonable markup (30-50%)
  • Consider convenience premium for in-studio sales
  • Example: Yoga mat costs $35 wholesale → Price at $55-65

Merchandise Pricing:

  • Balance affordability with quality perception
  • Studio-branded items can support premium pricing
  • Consider bulk discounts for multiple items
  • Example: Basic t-shirt → $25-35, Premium → $35-50

Gift Card Strategy:

  • Offer multiple denominations ($25, $50, $100, $200)
  • Consider bonus value promotions ("Buy $100, get $110")
  • No expiration dates increase perceived value
  • Can be used for any studio offerings

Best Practices#

Product Organization#

  • Use consistent categories across all physical products
  • Create custom categories for unique product types
  • Group related items together (yoga equipment, meditation supplies, etc.)

Product Descriptions#

  • Include dimensions, materials, and care instructions
  • Mention pickup vs. shipping clearly
  • Add size charts for apparel
  • Use keywords customers might search for

Visual Considerations#

  • While product images aren't directly uploaded in Naayya, consider:
  • Having physical samples available in studio
  • Including detailed descriptions to paint a clear picture
  • Mentioning colors, sizes, or variations available

Customer Communication#

  • Clear pickup/delivery expectations
  • Return or exchange policies
  • Size availability and ordering process
  • Contact information for product questions
