Teaching Philosophy
Hi everyone, I’m Steffi. I started practicing yoga in 2014 and for years I solely practiced from home, on my own, guided by online teachers I never met but who made yoga so accessible and personal that it left me wanting to keep coming back for more (looking at you, Adriene and Benji). In this intimate setting, without my knowing, I was slowly and over time started on my path back home to myself. I always try to bring this intimacy of home practice to my yoga classes to allow for the best of two worlds to meet: practicing alongside others, and being completely with yourself. As an almost-psychologist most specialized in the field of trauma, I try to teach my classes on the foundation of the basic principles of trauma-sensitive yoga: (Re-)connecting to your body and its internal sensations, experiencing the present moment, practicing making choices of your own, and taking effective action to make yourself feel good - and thus, becoming an active agent rather than a passive participant on your mat and in life. In this way, I aim to make my classes valuable and safe for everyone.
