# Manage Discounts and Promotional Codes Add, turn off, and delete reusable discounts and their promotional codes, and what to do when a discount cannot be deleted Canonical URL: https://www.naayya.com/help-center/manage-discounts Category: customer-management Last updated: 2026-09-29T00:00:00Z # Manage Discounts and Promotional Codes Use **Admin > Discounts** to look after the reusable discounts your business offers and the promotional codes customers enter at checkout. This article covers what you can do with a discount after you create it. To create a discount, or to give one customer a coupon, see [Coupons](/help-center/coupons). Owners and managers can manage discounts. **Admin > Discounts** needs a connected Stripe account. If you see **Stripe Account Required**, finish [Set Up Get Paid](/help-center/get-paid-setup) first. ## How discounts and codes fit together A **discount** sets the amount, how long it applies, when it expires, and which products accept it. A **promotional code** is the word customers type at checkout to use that discount. One discount can have several codes, for example one for a newsletter and one for a partner. The **Discounts** page has an **Active** tab and an **Expired** tab. Expand a discount's row to see its promotional codes, or open its actions menu and select **View Details**. ## Add a promotional code 1. Go to **Admin > Discounts**. 2. Open the discount's actions menu and select **Add Code**. You can also open the discount with **View Details** and select **Add Code**. 3. Enter the **Promotional Code**. Use letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores only. 4. Check that the right discount is selected under **Discount**. 5. Optionally add a **Description**, an **Expires At** date, and **Maximum Redemptions**. 6. To limit the code further, select **Show** next to **Advanced Restrictions**. You can turn on **First Time Transaction Only** or set a **Minimum Amount** and its **Currency**. 7. Select **Create Promotional Code**. If you already have an active code with the same name, Naayya says so and asks you to deactivate it or choose another. ## Turn a code off or on Open the code's actions menu and select **Deactivate**. Customers can no longer use it at checkout. The code stays on the discount and shows **Inactive**. Select **Activate** in the same menu to turn it back on. Deactivate a code when you want to stop a promotion but may run it again. To copy a code so you can share it, select **Copy Code** in the same menu. ## Change a discount The Discounts page has no way to edit a discount's amount, currency, duration, or product list after you create it. To change one, create a new discount with the new settings, add a code to it, and deactivate or delete the old code. ## Delete a code or a discount Deleting cannot be undone. If you may want the code back, deactivate it instead. - **Delete a code:** open the code's actions menu and select **Delete**, then confirm **Delete** in the **Delete Promotional Code** window. - **Delete a discount:** open the discount's actions menu on the **Discounts** page and select **Delete**, or open the discount and select **Delete Discount**. Confirm **Delete** in the **Delete Discount** window. ## When a discount cannot be deleted Naayya changes a discount or its codes only after it can confirm the discount belongs to your business. Older discounts, such as ones created before Naayya kept its own record of your discounts, may not pass that check. You can still see them, but Naayya refuses to change them. When that happens, nothing is deleted or changed: - Deleting the discount shows **Coupon ownership could not be verified. Contact Naayya support to delete this discount.** - Adding a code to it shows **Coupon not found**. - Turning off or deleting one of its existing codes shows **Promotional code not found**. Contact Naayya support and give the discount's name. Ask them to delete the discount, or to help set up a replacement. In the meantime, you can create a new discount and code with the settings you want, and stop using the old one. **Repair discount sync**, in the actions menu next to **New Discount**, is for owners and managers. It copies the discounts and promo codes from your business's payment account into Naayya's list: it adds the ones Naayya is missing and updates the ones it has, and it never deletes anything. It reports what it added or updated, for example "2 discounts added", or "Everything is in sync" when nothing changed. It skips any discount or promo code that sits on Naayya's own payment account unless Naayya already has it recorded as yours, so it does not make an older discount of that kind deletable. It also skips a promo code whose text another live code already uses. ## Troubleshooting ### A code does not work at checkout Check that the code is **Active**, that it has not expired or used up its **Maximum Redemptions**, and that the customer is buying a product the discount covers. Also check any **Minimum Amount** or **First Time Transaction Only** restriction. See [Coupons](/help-center/coupons). ### The code I want is taken You already have an active code with that name. Deactivate the old code, or choose a different name. ### I see "Could not save this code" Try again in a moment.
