# Features

Switch Referrals, Contracts and Payroll on or off for your business in Settings.

# Features

Referrals, Contracts and Payroll stay out of your admin until you switch them on. A new business starts with all three off, so the sidebar shows only what the business uses.

A business that was already using a feature when this page was added keeps it on: referral links or referrals, any contract or contract template, contract e-signature switched on by Naayya, or payslips or pay rules.

## Open features

Select the business from the sidebar, then go to **Admin > Settings > Features**.

## Switch a feature on or off

1. Go to **Admin > Settings > Features**.
2. Find **Referrals**, **Contracts** or **Payroll**.
3. Use the switch on that row.

When a feature is on, it appears in the admin sidebar and in search, and the row shows a link to open it. You do not need to reload the page.

Off means off for everyone. While a feature is off, its sidebar entry and admin pages are hidden, and nobody can start using it for your business: customers cannot create an invite link, and no new contract, pay rule or payslip can be created.

## A feature in use stays on

You can switch a feature off only while nothing depends on it. Otherwise the switch stays on and a message says why:

- **Referrals:** customers already hold referral links for your business. Links cannot be removed, so Referrals stays on.
- **Contracts:** a stored contract is active, a stored contract has a pending assignment, a template is **Ready to send**, or a contract is waiting for a signature.
  - A stored contract keeps Contracts on, and it cannot be removed.
  - End a pending assignment with **Terminate** in the contract's **Assignments** tab.
  - Archive templates you no longer send: open the template and set **Status** to **Archived**.
  - A contract waiting for a signature keeps Contracts on until it is signed, declined or expires.
- **Payroll:** a pay rule is active. Delete the active pay rules first: open **Payroll**, select **Create**, then **Pay Rules**. Deleting a pay rule cannot be undone. Payslips you already created stay.

Switching off deletes nothing. If you switch a feature on again, its records are still there.

## What stays with each person

- **Contracts:** people keep the signed copies of contracts in their account.
- **Payroll:** teachers keep the payslips you sent them.

## Who can switch features

The business owner can switch features. An owner can also give another person the **Activate business features** permission. See [Roles and permissions](/help-center/roles-permissions).

Everyone else sees each feature as **On**, **Off** or **Not included**, without a switch.

## Not included in your plan

A row that says **Not included in your plan** cannot be switched on. Select **See plans** to compare plans on **Admin > Settings > Billing**. See [Plan Features](/help-center/plan-features).

## Other things you switch on

- Classes, Services, Programs and Products are switched on in **Admin > Settings > Offerings**. See [Switch offerings on and off](/help-center/offerings-settings).
