# Set Availability Schedules

## How availability works

Naayya shows customers only times when everything the service needs is available. A provider-based service uses provider schedules. A resource-based service uses resource availability. A service that needs both checks both at the same time.

Availability can be set for:

- **Providers**: Staff members who deliver services
- **Resources**: Rooms, equipment, or spaces needed for appointments

## Set provider availability

Provider schedules are managed in the staff schedule workspace:

1. Open **Staff** > **Schedule** (`/staff/schedule`).
2. On **Weekly schedule**, add the days and time ranges when the provider accepts appointments.
3. Use **Closures** for provider time off or other dates when the provider cannot take appointments.

You can add more than one range on a day for split schedules. The workspace shows **Weekly schedule** and **Closures** as separate tabs.

## Set resource availability

Resource schedules are set from the resource editor:

1. Go to **Admin** > **Settings** > **Locations**.
2. Expand the location that contains the resource.
3. Click **Edit resource**.
4. Open the **Availability** tab.
5. Add the days and time ranges when the resource can be booked, then save the changes.

Days without an explicit resource schedule can inherit hours from the resource's location. The resource list labels the schedule as **Custom hours**, **Location hours**, **Business default**, or **No hours**. **No hours** blocks bookings that need that resource.

## Block out closures

Closures block appointments during holidays, time off, maintenance, or another period when bookings should not be accepted.

### Add a closure for a provider

1. Open **Staff** > **Schedule** (`/staff/schedule`).
2. Open **Closures**.
3. Add the closure dates, optional reason, and whether it lasts all day.
4. Save the closure.

### Add a closure for a resource

1. Go to **Admin** > **Settings** > **Locations**.
2. Expand the location and click **Edit resource**.
3. Open **Closures**.
4. Add the maintenance window or other closure, then save it.

The resource editor describes these as closures that affect only that resource.

### Add a business-wide closure

For a closure that affects the whole business:

1. Go to **Admin** > **Settings** > **Closures**.
2. Add the closure dates and details.
3. Save the closure.

## Edit or remove availability

Open the same **Weekly Schedule**, **Availability**, or **Closures** tab to edit or remove an entry. After changing a schedule or closure, review the affected appointments separately if customers already have bookings during that time.

## Booking settings

Appointment timing is separate from class booking timing:

1. Go to **Admin** > **Settings** > **Booking**.
2. Under **Appointment time slots**, review **Slot interval** (the time between available starts) and **Hold duration** (how long a slot is held during checkout).
3. Under **Appointment booking window**, set **Minimum notice** and **Booking horizon** for appointments.
4. Click **Save appointment changes**.

These appointment controls do not set a class booking cutoff. To configure classes, use **Class booking window** on the same page. See [Booking & Checkout Settings](/help-center/booking-settings) for the class default and how to change it.
