# Activity Categories

Activity categories help you organize classes by type.

Use categories for labels such as Pilates, Yoga, Barre, Personal Training, Workshop, or any structure that makes sense for your business.

## Open categories

Go to **Admin > Settings > Categories** or **Admin > Categories**.

## What categories affect

Categories can affect:

- Class organization
- Timetable scanning
- Color coding
- Payroll tag context, when class tags are used for pay rules
- Reporting and operational review

Use clear names that staff and customers understand.

## Category colors

Colors help people scan the timetable quickly.

Keep the color system simple. If every category uses a similar color, the calendar becomes harder to read.

## Before deleting or changing a category

Check whether the category is used by active classes or payroll-related rules.
